Last week, Elias opened some eyes with a solid performance against Roman Reigns in an Intercontinental Championship match. Despite being originally viewed as little more than a good hand on the roster, Elias had steadily made progress, and that title bout was another step.

And then Monday, Elias was ragdolled by Braun Strowman as all his offense – including a guitar shot – was no-sold. That’s not to say that Strowman should have been hurt by Elias’ attacks, but it certainly was a step backward to have the Drifter get beaten up like a nobody.

Sure, Elias will recover from this, mainly because everyone has been manhandled by Braun, so this isn’t out of the ordinary. But hopefully he will stay on a solid trajectory as a good midcard heel, because you need guys like him populating your roster.
