7 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 5)

3. Roman Likes Swearing

Paul Heyman was hitting the main event promo segment out of the part, calling the Universal Championship (which he had in tow) not a belt, not a strap, not a prop, but a declarative statement that the holder was the best. It was a pretty good sell job by one of the best advocates.

And then Roman Reigns came out for his rebuttal.

Reigns did a great job last week running down an absent Brock Lesnar, but he showed Monday that lighting didn’t strike twice. Roman proceeded to call Brock a b**ch again, because it worked last week. He bemoaned that Lesnar wasn’t there, even though Heyman already said Brock would be at Raw next week.

He then told Heyman to have Brock dress for a fight next week. You know, the guy who shows up in track pants and a T-shirt isn’t already dressed to throw down.

It wasn’t Roman’s worst promo, by far, but it also wasn’t his best work. He hit his one note – swearing when referring to Brock – and delivered an otherwise mediocre promo, which was especially noticeable after Heyman’s mic work. It just didn’t feel like a main event segment after that bit.

Next week should be interesting…
