7 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 9)

6. Is There A Storyline Here?

Given a choice between not being on TV or being booked 50/50, this is much preferable. However, we’re going to have to give a down to Drew McIntyre’s aimless, directionless booking since his return to Raw this fall.

In the two months since his return, McIntyre has been pretty well protected, defeating the likes of Ricochet, Sin Cara, Akira Tozawa and on Monday night, Matt Hardy. He jawed with Hulk Hogan before and at Crown Jewel, and he was on Team Raw for Survivor Series.

So why is this a ‘down’?

Because after two months, the closest thing to an angle involving McIntyre directly has been his promo with Randy Orton last week in the wake of the fatal four-way match for a United States Championship bout… and then that was ignored this week.

WWE clearly is protecting McIntyre and trying to keep him strong, but it’s a little ridiculous that they can’t give him any direction – you know, there is a WWE Champion out there who hasn’t been mentioned on TV in two months, for example. No sustained feud, no match for TLC, just a handful of squashes with no real purpose.

If McIntyre was a new wrestler they were trying to get over, we could give that a pass, but he’s been around for a couple years now. Get on with it.
