Man, what a mess.

The NXT Cruiserweight Championship match between Lio Rush, Akira Tozawa and Kalisto was not a good match. It was sloppy and disjointed. But the match was fast-paced throughout, and the story (which Byron Saxton and Aiden English missed) was Raw and SmackDown teaming up on NXT’s Rush multiple times.

The upstart brand’s champ had a target on his back for multiple reasons, but he managed to grab a victory and retain his title. The ending, which featured Tozawa’s German suplex with Kalisto stealing the pinfall attempt, followed by a Salida del Sol and Final Hour, was nicely done and ended the match on a positive note.

We’ll give this passing marks for that finish, but barely.
