At some point, it’s going to strike midnight on Kofi Kingston’s fairy tale WWE Championship reign. But that point did not come Sunday night.

Kofi managed to defeat Kevin Owens in a spirited match that featured a series of finisher reversals and the usual KO trash-talking. Kingston overcame Owens’ Pop-Up Powerbomb and a Stunner, pulling out a Trouble in Paradise for the victory.

After weeks of KO sticking it to New Day, it was good to see Kofi get a measure of revenge rather than just becoming a statistic. He might be an unusual choice for champ (a career midcarder), but it’s good to see WWE at least giving Kingston a bit of a run here.
