7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (July 16)

5. RIP Talking Smack

There’s way too much WWE content as there is. Unfortunately, the company decided to kill off some of their better material this past week. Doing away with the first hour of Raw would be ideal, but it was Talking Smack who got the axe.

The latest word is Vince McMahon didn’t like the unscripted nature of the show. It would be very unfortunate if true, but it's also not too hard to believe. Wrestlers talking like actual human beings is what made the show entertaining, but wrestlers talking like actual people is too confusing for Vince. Believe THAT!

It's too bad, because one of the best wrestling moments of 2016 was The Miz and Daniel Bryan heated face-off on the show. Other wrestlers like Baron Corbin, Alexa Bliss, and The Usos also benefited from the loose format. It was more of this that the company desperately needs and not the overly-rehearsed, pop-culture pandering, too-clever-by-half dialogue that nearly every wrestler is forced to say.

To make the situation more unfortunate, management didn’t even bother telling the freaking hosts of the show it was going to be cancelled! They had to find out on Twitter. Sure, Talking Smack will still take place after pay-per-views, but getting rid of it on a weekly basis was a move that will hinder the growth of their talent.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
