7 WrestleMania Matches The Undertaker Almost Had

Given the way Braun Strowman had been built up from when he re-debuted on Raw as a singles star until WrestleMania 33, all signs pointed to him being a top candidate to face The Undertaker at the event. Nothing is known for certain whether that bout was ever discussed, but oddly enough, Strowman was indeed intended to do battle with 'Taker at the previous WrestleMania before plans changed.

The timing sounds strange because Strowman was still a henchman for Bray Wyatt at that point, but based off how he was being booked around WrestleMania 32 (remember that time he and Big Show closed out an episode of Raw?), it isn't that far-fetched that a Strowman vs. Undertaker was at one time being considered for the Show of Shows.

When rumors ran rampant that Strowman was replacing John Cena as Undertaker's opponent at WrestleMania, there was plenty of backlash from fans claiming Strowman wasn't ready for such a spot (and he wasn't). Apparently, the negative reaction to the match - and 'Taker's flat out refusal - was what led to it getting changed in early February 2016.

Shane McMahon eventually resurfaced as Undertaker's 'Mania dance partner instead.
