3. Wade Barrett (WrestleMania 27)
The revival of the classic Undertaker vs. Kane storyline from 2010 is well remembered, if only for the over-dramatic promos and painfully slow matches it produced. What fans tend to forget, however, is how it ended with Kane receiving assistance from The Nexus at Bragging Rights in burying his brother alive.
Everyone was left asking why this happened, and no, there was no previously established issues between Nexus and Undertaker, nor was the angle addressed after the fact. Apparently, it was designed to plant the seeds for a future feud between Undertaker and Nexus leader Wade Barrett heading into WrestleMania 27.
As comical as that sounds now, considering what became of Barrett, he was a pretty big deal back then, headlining pay-per-views and facing the illustrious likes of John Cena and Randy Orton. A match with 'Taker surely would have helped elevate him to main event status, but Barrett cooled off considerably before the bout could take place. Plans changed.
After the Royal Rumble, it seemed as if WWE had another notable name in mind to face Undertaker that year in place of Barrett...
