The WWE European and WCW World Television Championships served similar purposes during the Attitude Era. Both were the tertiary championships for their respective promotions, something for those in the very middle of the card to beef over and eventually move up to the Intercontinental or United States Championships.

Don't let this fool you however - a whole host of legendary names won these championships. Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, and Sting are found amongst the list of WCW World Television Champions, whilst the first three WWE European Champions were none other than The British Bulldog, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H.

Only four men won both titles however, all of whom won gold in WCW before jumping ship to Vince McMahon's company. Perry Saturn, William Regal, and Diamond Dallas Page managed it, but it was Chris Jericho who accomplished the feat first.

Jericho only held either title once however, with his European Championship reign lasting just 24 hours.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
