The last time we saw Randy Orton on WWE TV, he was being Curb Stomped by Seth Rollins after turning his back on The Authority. It was a smart move on creatives part the slow, methodical Orton that dissected his opponents had gotten stale with a large portion of the crowd, who were eager once again to see The Apex Predator who would RKO people for fun. In Rollins, WWE have the perfect man for Orton to set his sights on when he returns. Rollins is arguably the number one heel in the company right now, and his frequent reminders that he put Orton on the shelf (most recently on the February 2nd edition of Raw) show that WWE want it held firmly in our minds that he was the one responsible. All signs point to a match between the two at WrestleMania, but theres still a long way to go until then How to do it: Everybody is expecting Orton to return any day now, but WWE should hold off as long as possible to build anticipation. Each week, a different member of The Authority should get mysteriously attacked first Noble, then Mercury, and then Kane. Kane tells The Authority that it was Orton, and Rollins is likely the next target. This makes Rollins nervous, and he is noticeably anxious in the ring, which costs him a couple of matches. When Orton doesnt appear after a couple of weeks, Rollins returns to his usual cocky self and gloats to the fans about how he retired Randy Orton. Then, and only then, can Orton finally make an appearance, chasing Rollins from the ring and announcing that he will be returning to the ring at WrestleManiaagainst Rollins, with the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line.
