7 WWE Hell In A Cell 2020 Impulse Reactions

5. Jeff Hardy Vs. Elias

Jeff Hardy and Elias had an aggressively fine match - that is to say the contest was fine rather than aggressive.

A death spot on the card after an epic opener that took up the bulk of Hell In A Cell's first hour, the two were basically asked to elevate a television match to fit onto a show that was short on content beyond the big matches.

Theirs wasn't filler, like stuff elsewhere on the show. WWE have been at pains to script Elias as a heel narked with Hardy for running him over earlier this year, despite some fairly strong evidence that the 'Charismatic Enigma' was framed. The story including ample plugs for the former 'Drifter's new album suggests that that was the whole reason for the angle to exist in the first place, which subsequently explains why they couldn't be a*sed to deliver a g*ddamn finish on a f*cking pay-per-view.

Unacceptable this, not least because guitars can't be smashed over heads anymore. Hardy taking the disqualification was the regular reminder that nothing really matters, other than the next thing you're about to see. And WWE were quick to move on to it...
