2. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy is maybe the only WWE superstar in history to be both signed and fired due to the internet. His 2005 firing led to a huge online backlash, with fans rallying behind the former Tag Team Champion to the extent that the WWE were forced to rehire him. However, five years later, the internet would play its part in his second release. Unlike others on this list, Hardy actually used an online platform to make his release more likely, posting a series of bizarre, rambling Youtube videos after being sent home from a UK tour. In one, he claimed that he actually asked for his release but was denied, and instead attempted to deliberately get himself fired, stating "I tried to cause a couple things that would maybe get myself released". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On9FT1UAnSE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMjuUPgT-k0 Eventually Matt got his wish, and was let go in late 2010. Always a very vocal online presence, the only surprising thing about this story is the fact that Hardy deliberately caused a stir, rather than landing himself him hot water with a characteristically outspoken remark.
