8 Current WWE Stars Who (Probably) Won't Re-Sign Their Contracts
1. AJ Styles
Make no mistake, AJ Styles is the cat's pajamas in WWE right now. He's arguably the best in-ring technician in the company, he's blown away the expectations WWE likely set for him coming in as a former TNA talent and you can put him in a match with anyone and expect four-star and five-star quality performances. That said, he's no spring chicken.
Styles, now 41, has successfully checked off most of his bucket list in professional wrestling. He's made good money all over the world, he's been a part of every major wrestling promotion and he's wrestled at WrestleMania. Perhaps the only thing left to do is main event the "Biggest Show of Them All". That can't be far from happening now. But, as good as he is, there is a sense that he's slowing a touch.
Styles has admitted in documentaries on WWE Network that his workouts are not the same, that he's a little gun-shy about being the man thanks to the schedule commitment required and that his role these days is more to help get the talent he's in the ring with over versus shining a light on himself. This is not the talk of a man who sees himself in WWE for the next five to ten years.
When he does leave it will be the collective loss of the WWE Universe as fans all over the world may ask, "What if AJ had wrestled...?" That's the kind of legacy wrestlers can only hope for.
