8 Devastating Moves Watered Down In WWE

4. Walls Of Jericho

This was watered down to such a degree that even Wikipedia acknowledges that it is a different move in 2016. When Chris Jericho was a Cruiserweight Champion in WCW, he often finished off his smaller opponents with a move called the Lion Tamer. It was a Boston Crab, albeit one that saw Jericho wrench his opponents into a terrifyingly unnatural position, all the while placing his knee square on the back of their head.

We’ve seen the Lion Tamer in WWE on a couple of occasions, but what was renamed the Walls of Jericho became simply a Boston Crab. Some of this can be put down to the fact that Jericho was facing larger opponents on a frequent basis in WWE, but it can also be put down to the likelihood of a child snapping their friends back somewhere.

Although the idea of a six-year old shouting ‘Ask him!’ as their friend lies in tears on the floor is quite funny.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
