8 Japanese Stars WWE Should Sign
2. Tetsuya Naito
Tetsuya Naito is, quite simply, the best character in wrestling today.
His transformation from bland babyface to arrogant heel as leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon has been something to behold. Think Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, except about 10 times better; he's that good.
He's also one of the most accomplished in-ring workers in Japan and you'd be hard pressed to find a guy who's had a better year in New Japan when it comes to match quality.
Naito's ability to look like he doesn't care while effortlessly pulling off some of the smoothest and most impressive moves imaginable (such as his awesome Destino finisher) is truly astonishing.
His IWGP title matches versus Kazuchika Okada earlier this year are a must see, while his G1 Climax bout against Kenny Omega in August is the match of the year so far, in this writer's humble opinion.
As with many of the NJPW wrestlers on this list, however, it seems unlikely that Gedo and Jado would be willing to let another one of their top stars leave so easily.
Naito and LIJ are probably the hottest things in Japanese wrestling today and a big 2017 is surely planned for El Ingobernable himself, with hopefully a longer IWGP title run than his first.
