8 Mistakes WWE Have Already Made With Jason Jordan's Push
2. Immediate Intercontinental Title Contention
As a singles wrestler, Jordan hasn't had a chance to showcase much personality yet. Ideally, his first feud should have been a highly personal one, in tandem with these highly personal revelations about his lineage. Having him wrestle an Angle-hating heel just to defend his Dad could be an endearing storyline.
Instead, immediately shoving him into the Intercontinental Title picture against The Miz has the dual flaws of failing to establish any sense of personality to Jordan, and that immediately placing him into title contention is just too transparent a push for modern fans to accept.
Title opportunities should always feel like they've been earned, and while nobody is suggesting that Jordan is undeserving or unready to be a midcard champion, this opportunity coming so quickly after the revelation of his parentage is too much too soon.
In kayfabe, it smacks of nepotism. Jordan's tangling with The Miz actually has nothing to do with Kurt Angle, but having him do no wrong just furthers the generic boy scout babyface personality that's currently failing to do anything for him.
Jordan's incredible wrestling ability speaks for itself, so he doesn't need a title shot to build his legitimacy - he needs an interesting, personal feud in order to build the fan investment that he's been lacking on the main roster so far.
