3. Women Are Treated As Wrestlers, Not Reality Show Divas
The TNA Knockouts are beautiful women, all of whom could appear in magazines or calendars. They are sexy, strong, confident and tough, as they have repeatedly displayed in hard-fought television, pay-per-view and live event matches since the division's creation in 2007. Performers such as The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) are wrestlers with characters rather than characters who happen to wrestle. Gail Kim is, arguably, the best female worker of her generation. That is a loaded statement but when one looks at her body of work in TNA and the various styles she has encountered, she has remained consistently great. Taryn Terrell is one of the most surprising performers in the entire business as she overcame the model label to establish herself as one of the brightest young workers around. There is a reason the Knockouts division was, at one time, one of the biggest draws in all of TNA. The women worked hard to improve, delivered a quality product and fans flocked to it.
Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
