8 Talents Who Left WWE For Greater Things

2. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar was a monster that could not be stopped in his first WWE run. In his debut, he interrupted a tag-team match and dominated each of the four men involved in trivial fashion. Mere months later, he defeated Rob Van Dam to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship at Summerslam. He went on to defeat the Rock and broke his record as the youngest WWE Champion in history at the age of 25. In his brief two year stint, Lesnar dominated almost every feud he was involved in, but the staged nature of wrestling caused many to doubt if Lesnar had what it takes to conquer the world of mixed martial arts. After Brock's attempt to join a NFL team didn't pan out due to injuries from a motorcycle accident, he set his sights on the UFC in 2008. Lesnar started his UFC career with a loss to former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir. This significant defeat didn't stop Lesnar; after rebounding by retiring heavyweight staple Heath Herring, he got a title shot at Randy Couture at UFC 91 and defeated him by technical knockout in the second round. While he may have stepped out of the octagon due to fears regarding his health and body after diverticulitis sidelined him for extended periods of time, Lesnar was a huge draw in UFC and a very legitimate champion. He's undoubtedly more than 'just a wrestler', he's the next big thing.
