Picking the winning numbers for the Royal Rumble can be as tricky as the lottery without some insider knowledge. The lucky #27 might seem like an obvious choice with four winners, but after the 2021 matches, the #1 position now has three winners overall.

With the addition of the women's Rumble in 2018, the numbers have become even more interesting. For instance, going into the 2019 battle royals, many fans might have guessed Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins were going to win. It would have been much more difficult to guess they were #28 and #10.

Then again, that might all change after paying closer attention to the 2020 and 2021 Royal Rumble winners.

With the traditional 30-wrestler configuration, the match can be easily broken up into thirds. The winners of both the men's and women's Rumbles in 2020 came out during the second-third at #16 and #17. Given the fact the bout isn't truly random, one would think WWE brass would try to avoid giving the winners similar entries going forward, right?

Sure enough, the winners of both Rumbles had similar entry numbers in 2021.

For his latest comeback, Edge started off the contest at #1 and Bianca Belair came out at #3. If the trend continues, the 2022 winners will both come from the last third of the Rumble.
