2. Only One Fresh Opponent
When Seth Rollins took his busted up cadillac on a road trip to Suplex City to face Brock Lesnar, it was his first opponent he defended the title against he hadn't faced 1 on 1 before. The Ultimate Warrior was also undone with similar booking way back in 1990, when he faced retreads like Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect.
In Rollins case, he was thrust into an immediate rematch with Randy Orton who he wrestled twice previously on major broadcasts. Roman Reigns was brought into the scene to round out a Fatal 4 Way match. As his reign went on, his rivalry with Dean Ambrose was re-ignited to a lesser extent than their 2014 rivalry, which featured all time moments such as The Eulogy of Dean Ambrose, the curb stomp on cinderblocks, and Dean Ambrose jumping out of anything he could hide in.
While those match ups held some appeal, giving Rollins fresh challengers would have made for more interesting TV. Instead of just coming off as just another chapter, these new rivalries would have been the beginning of an entirely new book.
