Kane hasn't been seen on WWE TV since the 29 November 2016 episode of SmackDown. After defeating Luke Harper on that show, Glenn Jacobs decided to take an extended break from pro wrestling to concentrate on another passion. Since then, he has been campaigning hard to become the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

One thing Jacobs wanted to make clear during the JR interview is his continued love for WWE and wrestling in general. He wants to take inspiration from Jesse 'The Body' Ventura and resist the temptation to fall away completely from wrestling while he works to enter the world of politics. That has been difficult up until now, but Kane doesn't want to give up on WWE.

Noting that he doesn't get super-busy with his campaign until February, Jacobs said he'd be available if the "time and place is right". Is this Kane's way of hinting that he'll be a surprise entrant in the 2018 Royal Rumble? Let's hope so, because his return would get a big pop.
