8 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Nia Jax
5. WrestleMania 28 Inspired Her
In 2012, Ata and Nia travelled to the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. It was WrestleMania 28, and the The Rock was set to clash with John Cena in what had been branded a “once in a lifetime” match.
It was the night’s main event, and while Cena and Rock would go-on to wrestle again the following year, the match truly lived-up to its tag. Not exactly a technical classic, John Cena vs. The Rock was a pure spectacle match: two gigantic, era-defining titans colliding at the biggest show of the year.
That night, Nia Jax knew she had to become a professional wrestler. The event’s magnitude completely consumed her, and by the time her cousin had put John Cena away with his trademark Rock Bottom, her mind was made up.
Jax immediately made arrangements to attend her uncle Afa’s wrestling school, but her plans changed as soon as The Rock caught word of them. Knowing that WWE were about to open their new Performance Center in Orlando, The Rock suggested she try-out there, and after a successful evaluation, Nia signed her first WWE contract in early 2014.
