8 Things WWE Want You To Ignore About NXT
6. Crowds Can Be Crappy
There is no part of WWE that doesn’t cross paths with a self-absorbed crowd. New Jersey trolled the entire roster with “Sexual Chocolate” and “We Are Awesome” chants in 2013. In 2016, SummerSlam fans forgot they watched two high-caliber wrestlers battle for a new championship when they became engrossed in the title’s lackluster design.
But while the rest of WWE sees a raucous crowd from time to time, it’s almost a regular scene at NXT shows.
One of the benefits of the NXT crowds is that they tend to be much smaller than that of its larger counterpart and chants stand a better chance of circulating about when there are only around 300-500 people in attendance. Sometimes this is a good thing, such as when it places more attention on newer talent.
Unfortunately, sometimes the crowds become amused with their own irrelevant chants instead. The chants at Full Sail became so disruptive in 2015 that long-time NXT supporter Mick Foley even had to lash out: “Those @WWENXT fans at @FullSail who THINK the show is about THEM, disrespect the wrestlers - and make the show far less fun to watch,” he Tweeted.
Sadly, the minority of NXT fans who enjoy hijacking shows didn't heed the advice of the hardcore legend, and the chants continue. Furthermore, they aren't limited to Full Sail, as seen with chants such as “You’re S*** And You Know It,” “You’re A Hipster,” and “Who Are You?” in London.
