8 Times John Cena Actually Did Suck

3. Cena And Randy Orton Beat The Entire Raw Roster - March 17, 2008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndgVcE7w0uo Just weeks before a WrestleMania XXIV pitting WWE champion Randy Orton against John Cena and Triple H in a Triple Threat match, Cena and Orton were booked in a handicap match as partners, despite the tremendous hatred that existed between them. Their opponents on March 17, 2008? The entire Raw roster. You read that correctly. Cena and Orton squared off with the entire Raw roster. Why? Why not. What better way to establish that no one outside of the select few at the top of the card will ever get over than by having everyone not named Cena or Orton (or Triple H, who did not compete in the bout) fall in defeat in one of the most absurd matches in Raw history? Cena and Orton survived the onslaught of their opposition, eliminating several stars, including a very young Cody Rhodes. Then, because WWE Creative felt the need to protect its two top young stars, they booked a disqualification finish. Even with 17 (SEVENTEEN!) different opponents, Orton and Cena could not afford a loss, it was determined. So how is a creative decision made in a writer's room earlier in the afternoon Cena's fault? Because, as the face of the company, he should understand when something is as bad an idea as sacrificing the entire roster in favor of putting over two stars already at the top of the industry. It is his job as a leader of the locker room to refuse idiotic, stupid and ridiculous that do more harm to the overall quality of the product than allow it to make air. He should lobby to have it changed or come up with something better. He did not and on that night, both he and Orton failed the men they share the locker room with.
