8 Times John Cena Actually Did Suck

2. WWE Championship Match vs. The Miz - WrestleMania 27

The very mention of John Cena vs. The Miz from WrestleMania 27 elicits groans from fans of World Wrestling Entertainment unlucky enough to have witnessed it. The headlining match at the biggest show of the year, Cena and Miz wrestled a contest that did not belong on Raw, let alone the show that defines pro wrestling. It was slow, lethargic and clearly only existed to set the table for The Rock's involvement in the closing moments of the event. Cena and Miz wrestled the most uninspired headlining bout in the history of the show, which should have come as no surprise to those who had closely followed build to the contest. From the get-go, champion Miz was treated as an afterthought, something that doomed the match from the beginning. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xmr0fp_john-cena-vs-the-miz-wrestlemania-27_sport It's fitting that The Miz suffered a concussion and cannot remember much of the match. Who would want to, especially with the reputation the bout has gained in the years since it unfolded in front of 71,000 fans. Unfortunately, he never recovered from the bout. So bad was the final result that someone had to take the blame and, since Rock most certainly would see no criticism and Cena was the face of the franchise, Miz absolutely had to endure the wrath of Vince McMahon. As we discussed early, it was Cena who should have risen above the awful booking of the competitors to put together a match that worked to the strengths of both competitors. Instead, he wrestled a very basic, very nondescript match that failed to capture the imagination of the audience, leading to utter silence during the most important match of the year.
