8 Times WWE Tried (And Failed) To Make The Roman Reigns Experiment Work
5. Overcoming Triple H
Triple H has a bit of a habit of making himself the ultimate obstacle for young rising stars to overcome at WrestleMania. It's a commendably selfless approach that has helped the likes of Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins on their babyface ascensions. However, instead of helping some young upstart at WrestleMania 32, Trips lent himself to Roman Reigns (who clearly didn't need the rub) in an attempt to get fans behind the Big Dog.
Once again trying to recreate their past success with Daniel Bryan, the creative team had Triple H and The Authority screw Reigns out of the WWE Championship in every way possible. This time, The Game even won the title just so he could lose it back to Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania.
Even though Hunter was as vindictive and vicious as he was with Daniel Bryan two years prior, the whole thing backfired because the audience was totally behind The Game and totally against Reigns. As a result, when Roman won the match, WrestleMania 32 closed to the sound of overwhelming boos — a sign of things to come.
