8 Times WWE Tried (And Failed) To Make The Roman Reigns Experiment Work
6. Roman The Underdog
After Reigns' first push into the title picture failed, the Big Dog finally managed to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series 2015 when he won a tournament for the vacant title. At this point, he still hadn't won over the fans, who were less than thrilled to see him beat Dean Ambrose. In order to make him seem more sympathetic, WWE decided to have him lose the championship minutes later, when Sheamus cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at the behest of Triple H.
It was clear that they were trying to recreate the Daniel Bryan success story from the previous year with The Big Dog, as he came so close to gold only to be screwed by The Authority. See? He doesn't win everything... right? Sure WWE. Sure.
Needless to say this did not make fans feel sorry for him and instead, resulted in loud cheers from the audience. Unfortunately for the fans who had already grown weary of this narrative, this was only the beginning.
