8 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (March 20 - Results & Review)
2. Will Ospreay Is The Man
Will Ospreay is the future Ace of the company. It is imperative that he, like Moné, is featured every week in a key position. It seems obvious and can feel boring, repetitive, but focus and profile is how fans identify stars. This was a major issue last year; Tony Khan is in the process of rectifying it. This was hardly boring or repetitive.
Will Ospreay cut another great promo. He's still trying to charm the crowd, as he should, but he's shedding the happy to be here approach. He wants to dominate AEW. Bryan Danielson is in his way, and Danielson last week said that Ospreay can't fill his shoes. This is becoming a story of two alpha egos now, developing a real sporting flavour. Ospreay, drenched in confidence and with poise in his delivery, pointed out that his feet are too big. Ospreay's accomplishments in Japan far outstrip the Dragon's, and that's where Danielson always claimed he wanted to be. That was a great and not untrue flex.
Will put over Danielson's win over Shibata and said he'll show Danielson what "the Billy GOAT" is all about - presumably, by defeating Shibata more decisively on Dynamite next week.
Two alpha athletes using the hardest wrestler on the roster as a ruler in their d*ck measuring contest: this is the sports-oriented tone missing in the back half of 2023.
