8 Ups & 10 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Apr 22)

5. A Perfect Use Of Baron Corbin

Say what you will about Baron Corbin's limitations as a professional wrestler, but the man gets heat, and last night was a perfect utilisation of his skill-set.

Corbin looked like an opportunistic little bastard in escaping his Triple Threat. It was Drew McIntyre's graft, not his, that won the pinfall. His smug post-victory facial expression was earned, and that he was willing to go to such lengths at the expense of a supposed ally showcases his sliminess.

This triumph planted seeds of doubt for the main event, with the idea that WWE might us this guy to deprive the fans of the long sought after Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles clash the right story to tell. It would've had stronger resonance with a better crowd, admittedly, but this is how you use a heel like Corbin. Have him troll the fans into believing that he might make it all the way to the top, only to pull back at the last minute.
