8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Aug 4)

1. It's That Easy

Eric Young made his first WWE appearance on the 12 October 2016 edition of NXT, and his final one on the 13 March episode of Main Event earlier this year. Somehow, the company failed to use 'The World Class Maniac' in any major way, aside from a stint as NXT Tag Team Champion alongside Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe.

They failed to do in three and a bit years what Impact Wrestling have accomplished in 18 days. Eric Young is already re-established as a menace to the rest of the Impact roster.

Rich Swann closed the show's proceedings by announcing his retirement from active competition due to the injuries to his leg caused by Young in the Slammiversary main event. Essentially, the former X Division Champion had to choose between wrestling or living a normal life with his family. That in itself was enough to make Young a threat to everyone else. He caused harm to someone serious enough that they were being forced into an early retirement.

Just as Rich was making his back up the ramp after being celebrated by the remainder of the locker room, his ankle was again the target of Eric Young, who smashed one of Swann's crutches against it at the top of the stage. That's all he had the chance to do before being chased off by Eddie Edwards, Willie Mack, The Rascalz, and others. In one swift motion, the former World Champion had provided further reasoning as to why he's nicknamed 'The World Class Maniac'.

It really was that simple to use Eric Young properly. How WWE failed to do this remains a mystery.
