8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2019
6. Oh My God, They Killed Kenny!
With things coming to an all-time high between them in recent weeks, Eddie Edwards and Killer Kross both went all out in order to create an epic First Blood Match that will surely be remembered for some time to come. We could already tell it would be a great weapons-based brawl, but some of the moments during this one went that extra mile.
Right off the bat, we had steel chairs being swung in all directions, which also included a brutal-looking gutwrench suplex off the apron on to some chairs at ringside. As the action continued and Edwards had performed a top rope Boston Knee Party, we saw a slight change of character for him as he willingly snapped Kenny 2.0 (a kendo stick) in half, and proceeded to jam it inside Kross' mouth to draw blood.
Not only was this a nasty finish to the match, but it shows signs of Edwards overcoming this obsession he has with his beloved kendo stick. He can use them all he wants - after all, they're a great weapon - however, he's gotten far too attached to his one. It may only be the first step in a long journey, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.
On a side note, if this was indeed Killer Kross' final match in Impact (he's reportedly been wanting out of his contract), then what a match to go out on.
