8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (2 Sep)

Moose and W. Morrissey align, Jake Crist returns, Chris Sabin lays down a challenge, and more!

Last night was a return to form for IMPACT Wrestling.

The actual wrestling was great in places; Josh Alexander and Jake Crist's X Division Title match, for example, was an exemplary showing from both guys that justified Alexander as a credible 2021 worker. Elsewhere, Ace Austin and Tommy Dreamer had a fine match, and Rohit Raju, Shera, Matt Cardona, and Chelsea Green gave new life to mainstream intergender wrestling.

As for the segments, they worked, too. Moose and W. Morrissey aligned not because they're friends, but because they follow the same code; there are no friends in wrestling. This will benefit both guys moving forward, while also maintaining the integrity of their characters. Deonna Purrazzo, meanwhile, was showcased spectacularly via video package, showing her work from the NWA last weekend. This was necessary for the progression of her IMPACT story arc.

Where it was bad, it wasn't exactly terrible. Taylor Wilde, Jordynne Grace, and Rachael Ellering vs. the Influence was teetering on the edge of passable; had it not been for one or two hiccups, it would have been a feasible Up. Fallah Bahh and No Way vs. Decay's Crazzy Steve and Black Taurus follows the same misfortune.

Let's get to it...
