A video package showcased Deonna Purrazzo's participation in the National Wrestling Alliance's weekend events, retaining the Knockouts Title vs. Melina at Empowerrr and then ambushing Mickie James following her match with Kylie Rae at the 73rd-anniversary show.
This was needed if IMPACT is to continue the Deonna vs. Mickie story, which is presumably the title match for 23 October's Bound For Glory. Until now, the pair had gotten physical only once, with that occurring on last week's IMPACT. Even then, this was extremely minor, with a stiff forearm from Deonna being the only highlight. With this, there's a decent story to build upon coming out of this.
IMPACT could easily go down the avenue of Deonna having to retain the title against a wrestling legend to prove herself as a legitimate champion. Yes, she did defeat - and retire from IMPACT events - Jazz in April, but Mickie is on another level in that regard. Deonna could reach new heights with a Mickie James defeat on her CV.
