Reports coming out of the IMPACT spoilers from last weekend stated that Ace Austin, Sami Callihan, Chris Sabin, and Moose's number one contender's bout was a banger of a four-way. Those reports weren't false.
The quartet worked a match that wouldn't look out of place in the mid-card of a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event. Though not quite spot after spot, this came packed with an array of unique moments; between Sami's Death Valley Driver into the corner, Ace's impressive Fosbury Flop, and Moose Powerbombing Sabin over the ropes, everything worked. All four have been pivotal to IMPACT's resurgence over the last few years, proving why here.
Ace winning was the right choice, with his rollup on Moose coming after he'd been whacked across the head with a chair by 'The Draw'. He's not featured in a World Championship match since Slammiversary, acting as a fresh challenge for Christian Cage at Victory Road. That Madman Fulton aided Ace without putting his hands on anyone worked well, too; he took a kick to the head by jumping in front of Ace. He's the perfect example of a modern-day bodyguard figure.
In victory, Ace could become the youngest World Champion in IMPACT, fulfilling his prophecy as a result. There's a story for him vs. Christian, and the match is going to rule as well. Victory Road will be grand.
