8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Emergence 2021

6. Now You Know

Naff catchphrases aside, Christian Cage and Brian Myers' respective promos built their World Championship clash perfectly in a match that, until this, was relying heavily on the in-ring work to succeed.

For Myers, this was the culmination of an eighteen-year journey, if you will. He'd paid his dues, he'd been the go-to goober to get someone else over, and now, it was about him going over. Cage's promo took a different route, being a tad more personal as 'The Instant Classic' informed Brian that he wasn't on the same level. Myers had took advantage of an opportunity by winning the number one contender's Battle Royal, but he was never going to win the World Championship from him.

What was key here is that they both acknowledged their history. They'd never had a high-profile feud in WWE, but they're good friends outside of the ring. Thus, their program was always destined to work because of the natural chemistry they had together. Either way, these promos deserved their place on the broadcast.
