8 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (15 April - Results & Review)

DOWNS…

4. Indi’s Lightbulb Switches On

Maxxine Dupri Indi Hartwell

Congratulations to Indi Hartwell, who after five weeks of being bludgeoned over the head (metaphorically) by Candice LeRae to take shortcuts to win finally got with the program.

Unfortunately, what should have been a positive development was met with silence, as there has been no fan investment in any of the wrestlers involved in Monday’s match (Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile were once again the opponents). Hartwell either can’t project conflict or is just really bad at it, because she just looked utterly confused for weeks rather than being distraught at having to choose between a longtime friend/tag partner and a philosophy she opposes.

WWE could have dedicated a pre-tape segment with them discussing the situation, giving depth to the story and hopefully giving fans a reason to invest. Instead, all they saw was Candice cheating and Indi looking perplexed, then resetting the next week.

While it’s great to see the story finally advance, the lack of reaction shows that WWE didn’t do enough to build it or make it mean anything to fans.
