8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

3. Poor Rich Swann

Imagine being Rich Swann.

The former X Division Champion has been out injured since the start of January after suffering a serious ankle injury just two days before he and Willie Mack were scheduled to challenge The North for the World Tag Team Championships at Hard To Kill.

We've seen one or two appearances from Swann since then, including on the pay-per-view itself as he was apparently still on crutches. Fast forward to the main event, and Swann was revealed to have been feigning still being injured as he was unveiled as the mystery fourth man in the World Championship match.

All of the hype surrounding this match had fans pondering as to who it would. Would it be the returning former World Champion, who had been confirmed to be making a comeback at the event? Perhaps it would be one of the Black Wednesday WWE release?

Nope, it was someone already on the active roster. Even though Eric Young was also a surprise entrant with the match becoming a five way, having Swann as the initial reveal took something huge away from what could've been a far better return as it simply wasn't what fans were expecting.

Let's just hope he continues down that phenomenal path he was on before being struck down by injury.
