8 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 10)
7. LA Knight Squashes Chase, Sets Up High Stakes TakeOver Match
Last week was something of a rough one for Cameron Grimes. After being left hanging by his employer LA Knight during their match against The Grizzled Young Veterans, the most over butler in wrestling history was ultimately pulverised by the no-nonsense unit and defeated.
However, Ted DiBiase's appearance late in the day seemingly riled up the current Million Dollar Champion this week as Knight quickly went out of his way to belittle and gaslight his worker backstage before making a quick example out of Andre Chase moments later. Grimes' defeated look and performance throughout suggested a man that had given up all hope of ever being the top-hat-wearing Dogefather again. Yet, one more twist in his tale was about to add a flicker of light at the end of this relentless tunnel.
As DiBiase once again showed up on the CWC scene, the WWE Hall of Famer made a point of reminding Grimes how valuable he was and just how much he and the fans believed in him. The Million Dollar Man even admitted that he felt Grimes would best Knight if they met in the ring again. Though Knight was understandably not keen on the idea of battling Grimes once again, after getting the better of him twice already, he did have a price. One that DiBiase was more than willing to meet.
If Knight beats Grimes again at TakeOver 36, the WWE legend will become his new butler. But if Grimes wins, he'll take home that prestigious Million Dollar title.
The stage is set. The stakes are high. And it looks like yet another all or nothing deal for everyone's favourite gambling man.
