8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 5)

2. Redemption For Goldberg

Goldberg Return
WWE.com

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg was savaged by critics earlier this summer for his dismal match against The Undertaker at Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia, and rightfully so. The match was an embarrassment, though you could excuse part of it due to Goldberg sustaining a concussion in the bout.

Taker had a chance to redeem himself at Extreme Rules in a tag match with Roman Reigns, and The Phenom acquitted himself well. But Goldberg, a WCW product who only wrestled in WWE for a year, was turned into a punchline for current superstars, particularly Dolph Ziggler.

Now, the former WCW star will get his chance at redemption at SummerSlam, as The Miz baited Ziggler into signing a contract he didn’t read. After a little misdirection with Shawn Michaels, Goldberg stalked to the ring, signed the contract and informed Dolph that he indeed was next.

For what it’s worth, don’t expect a 60-minute broadway here.
