8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 12)
2. Andrade Wins 2 Straight Falls
If you were looking for a great reason why doing away with the constant, meaningless 2-out-of-3-falls matches was important, look no further than Monday’s match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade.
The two men have been engaged in a feud recently that saw Andrade tear Mysterio’s mask off and then pin him again last week. So how do you settle a feud? Have a 2-out-of-3-falls match.
But here’s where it got even better: Andrade won the first fall right away with a rollup and using the ropes (with help from Zelina Vega), and then went on to win the second fall after some good back-and-forth to win the match in straight falls. That’s something you almost never see these days, which was just tremendous.
It set the stage for Rey to later question his status as a wrestler, and it gave Andrade huge bragging rights, which is something he really needed after sputtering on the roster for some time.
