8 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 23)

6. Slow-Mo Carriage Chase

It was good to see the 24/7 Championship get a humorous series of videos Monday night.

R-Truth was visiting Rockefeller Center in New York City to check out the Christmas Tree when Akira Tozawa rolled him up to win the title and then fled into the night. Truth grabbed the ref and gave chase. We saw a series of clips, with Santa Claus hitting Tozawa with his sack and pinning him to win the 24/7 title, leading Truth and Akira to chase Santa.

This in turn led to a slow-motion carriage ride chase through Central Park (and R-Truth chastising their horse as a “bad reindeer”). Finally, Truth won the title back, but the referee then threw up his hands about running all over the city in the freezing cold and left (right at the time when viewers had to be thinking the same thing), leading to a truce between Truth and Tozawa.

It wasn’t side-splitting funny, but the vignettes were enjoyable enough, fit the season, and had a great little payoff with the carriage chase. Tis the season.
