8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 8)

2. Battle Of The Rollups

Oh, come on now…

So after Titus O’Neil cheated to win and then threatened to beat up Bob Backlund, Darren Young got revenge by getting beaten from pillar to post, and then winning by a rollup with a handful of tights. Sure, turnabout is fair play (and Backlund didn’t see his protégé cheat), but this is what goes for a feud between former tag champs and friends?

With each man with one tainted victory, do we now settle this at SummerSlam, where the rollup is banned? Or worse yet, tights are banned so they can’t be pulled to gain leverage.

A feud between Titus and Darren could have been entertaining with some decent promos about how their careers have taken different trajectories (though both have failed at winning singles titles), but instead they’ve traded tainted rollup wins – in matches that were dull and plodding. Thrilling stuff.
