8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 8)

1. Wins Don’t Matter

Don’t worry, your ears weren’t deceiving you during the Cesaro/Sheamus match. Mick Foley, sorry, three-time WWF Champion Mick Foley apparently didn’t care about who actually won last week’s match between the Swiss Superman and Celtic Warrior, he wanted to see “physical dominance.” Since there wasn’t clear dominance, we got a rematch Monday night.

No, seriously.

This one is tough to justify or even explain. We’ve seen this before, where an authority figure has declared that s/he wants to see someone make a statement, and then a wrestler ekes out a win, so the authority figure orders a rematch. But in this case, Cesaro reversed a move, hit his finisher and won the match. He didn’t roll Sheamus up (which actually happened this week) or win by countout.

The only conclusion here is that Foley has been drinking the McMahon Kool-Aid, because that was just ridiculous. At least this atrocity was negated somewhat by the main event.
