8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 28)

3. No Excuses… Sort Of

It’s not often that a heel straight-up acknowledges that he screwed up, but Paul Heyman (of all people) and Brock Lesnar took the blame for Lesnar’s stunning defeat at Survivor Series at the hands of Goldberg. The heel tactic of saying he slipped on a banana peel and the sun was in his eyes still works most times, but it was refreshing to hear Heyman just own the loss and chalk it up to underestimating their opponent, who he called “a relic.”

But just to make sure you knew the reason things ended so quickly, Heyman made sure to note that the first spear cracked Brock’s ribs, inhibiting his breathing and leading to his loss. But for Paul E., that was as close to an honest assessment (in storyline) as you’ll ever see. “We screwed up,” he said. That’s a hell of a statement, as was the admission that that Brock was embarrassed and looking to prove something.
