8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 28)
2. Stone Cold Rollins
The statute of limitations for stealing angles is what, seven years? Therefore, it’s OK for Seth Rollins to rip off one of the better Stone Cold Steve Austin standards: the parking lot beatdown. Rollins jumped Chris Jericho as Y2J was trying to leave the arena, beating him and throwing him into cars, even tossing a guardrail at him. The Architect ended things by hitting a Pedigree on the roof of a car, leaving Jericho laid out.
Austin was great at those backstage beatings, showing up out of nowhere to demolish someone who had wronged him, and fans loved him for it. It’s clear WWE is trying to push Rollins as a top face star (with decent success), but ripping off Stone Cold with something that worked well for him is a good way to try to bring fans along. The setup – with the driver knocking the List of Jericho over, Y2J picking it up and discovering Rollins standing there – was nicely done as well.
