5. Commentary On-Point

One of the regular negatives that pop up in these columns that readers groan about is inane or outright stupid commentary. Personally, poor announcing detracts greatly from the ability to enjoy a PPV or episode of Raw. It’s a vital part of the program, and it should be graded as such.

On the other side, really good commentary should be acknowledged, and Sunday’s announcing was pretty good by recent WWE standards. Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Booker T all did their homework and turned in solid work during Extreme Rules. Booker, often the one to go off the rails the most, was on-point with his analysis, while Graves was his usual awesome self, firing off a He-Man reference at one point.

Michael Cole provided a little history and context, even noting how the only other time a title changed hands on a DQ was Christian’s win over Randy Orton six years ago when he goaded Orton into a low blow by spitting on him. He was good enough that we can overlook calling Miz’s Busaiku Knee Kick (formerly Daniel Bryan’s finisher) a “running dropkick.”

Hey, and Booker T actually corrected Cole immediately afterward, so kudos there too.
