8 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (April 20)

2. Murphy, Mysterio Put On Solid Show

Murphy made a critical mistake out of the gate in his match against Rey Mysterio Monday night, remarking to the legendary luchador, “Not bad for an old man.” That gauntlet was promptly picked up, as Rey battled back from a dislocated finger to defeat Murphy in a Money in the Bank qualifying match.

It’s funny, but Mysterio is in a rare territory, where him winning is not surprising because of his legendary status, but he could reasonably lose such a match and it be accepted, and Rey wouldn’t lose any stature (as long as it doesn’t happen too often). In that respect, the outcome wasn’t clear. Murphy capitalized on an injury and nearly pulled off the win, but Rey dug deep as he often does.

The result was an enjoyable match that sends Rey to his second MITB contest.
