8 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 11)

3. The Man They Call Hall Of Famer

We knew the day would come when the WCW icon Sting would take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame, and we learned Monday night that that day will be the day before WrestleMania XXXII in Dallas, Texas (which interestingly is where Sting currently resides). Sting€™s WWE career consists (as of now) of two losses, to Triple H at WrestleMania XXXI and to Seth Rollins at Night of Champions, and two victories on an episode of Raw before NOC (a DQ win over Big Show and a tag team win with John Cena against Show and Rollins). But it€™s Sting€™s career in the NWA/WCW that defined him as a Hall of Famer. He held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times and the NWA World Championship twice (including once while in TNA). If you count the WCW International title and the TNA world title, Sting has had 14 world title reigns, though it€™s doubtful WWE ever would acknowledge the four TNA reigns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJEt1sDOBnk In addition to titles, Sting was the charismatic, loyal focal point of WCW, never leaving it during the Monday Night Wars. He was the one who stood tall against the nWo in the early days, defeating Hollywood Hogan at Starrcade 1997 for the world title. And he (and Ric Flair) main-evented both the first and last episodes of Monday Nitro. It€™s a well-deserved honor for Sting, and it€™s great to see him be recognized.
