Tomohiro Ishii is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world - and has been for ages. With Ishii you know what you are going to get, every bout in the G1 will be an absolute banger, he will make his opponent work to get him down to the mat and at some point, they will hit him too hard and he will snap.
The G1 this year as always saw Ishii put on a collection of matches that were some of the best of the tournament. Facing off against the likes of Shingo Takagi, KENTA, and Zack Sabre Jr in this year's A Block of the tournament. In November he became a six-time NEVER Openweight Champion after defeating Jay White.
All these things are a given, but this year Ishii has reached a whole new level and surprised his American fans by making his way to NJPW Strong. On top of this, he made his in-ring debut for AEW giving everyone a matchup we didn't know we needed. Tomohiro Ishii is one of the best storytellers inside of the ring and here's hoping we get full-on singles match between him and The Butcher before the end of the year.
