How could we miss this one off? Phillip 'CM Punk' Brooks hasn't even made his UFC debut yet (and it's been a long time in the making), but other than Brock, he is is probably the most talked about migrant from the squared-circle to the octagon of all time.

As he's yet to contest a fight, it's difficult to asses Punk's MMA career just yet. He certainly doesn't fit the traditional model of wrestler-turned-shooter; he has next-to no competitive fight background, and his physique isn't of the general beastly sort that tends to populate this list.

It could all turn out to be nothing beyond promotional bluster, but as far as raising the profile of UFC amongst wrestling fans, Punk has been a monumental success. Whether he is good or bad in the caged arena seems immaterial: either way, Punk's debut is one of the most hotly anticipated UFC fights of all time. And believe me, there will be many tuning in with the hope of seeing the wrestling deserter get his rear absolutely pasted.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
